10/08 - Colmek Wins 2nd Round Congressional Support!

Over the past years Colmek has worked diligently to build strong relationships within the Utah congressional delegation; connecting at both the local and DC offices. During this time, Utah Congressmen and Senators have gotten to know our small company; some have even sent staff members to visit our Salt Lake City location.

Spending this time with the various delegates has been positive and resulted in a solid backing of an FY08 Ad-Request which allowed monies to be allotted to enhance components on the Raytheon Missile Systems CIWS (close-in weapon system), of which Senator Hatch and Senator Bennett both supported. Last month Colmek was again successful! This time with a $10.7M FY09 win (endorsed by Senator Hatch, Congressman Bishop and other members of Congress), these funds are ultimately directed towards the Raytheon Close-In-Weapon System Enhancements, or Tech Re-Fresh, as its called in the field.

Raytheon has expressed their excitement about the recent funding, and currently Colmek is working on various engineering tasks which are the direct result of supporting these Plus-Up efforts. The recognition and support received by our Utah congressional delegation was truly amazing and demonstrates the importance of defense and small business in the Beehive State!
