Colmek was chosen by Raytheon to develop a custom VME chassis technology for the Phalanx Close-In Weapon System (C.I.W.S.), which provided precision guidance for a new laser weapon during a U.S. Navy demonstration to shoot down an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV).
